DEVELOPMENTAL COPY EDITING

make your work magnetic

You already have something to say.
This service exists to help you say it clearly, coherently, and with impact, without sanding down your voice.

Your writing gets a fresh perspective the way your audience will experience it: I notice what flows, what drags, and where your message lands in my gut.

Then I help you sharpen what’s already alive.

Your writing gets better when someone else is willing to sit with it, care about it, and reflect it back to you honestly.

I show you what you can’t see when you’re too close to your own work:

× Where cohesion breaks down

× Where your point is strong and where it’s getting diluted

× What’s redundant, confusing, or unnecessary

× Where readers lose momentum or trust

× How sentence structure could be tweaked for clarity and power

You’ll get thoughtful, human feedback on what’s working, what isn’t, and specific suggestions to strengthen the piece, while keeping your tone intact.

THIS IS YOUR PERMISSION TO RELEASE:

  • Staying stuck or progressing painfully slowly.

  • Repeating the same blind spots in your writing again + again.

  • The mental drain of being both the artist and the critic.

  • Wondering if the problem is your skill, when really it is the lack of perspective and support.

WHAT YOU GET:

  • Real human eyes on your copy

  • Meticulous, thoughtful feedback

  • Detailed notes on structure, clarity, tone, and flow

  • A high-touch, caring review—not a mechanical edit

  • Feedback from someone who is reading your words and the energy behind them

  • A growing skillset and greater confidence in your writing decisions going forward (!!!)

HOW IT WORKS:

  1. You submit your copy request via THIS FORM

  2. I will review your submission within 48 hours

  3. If we’re a good fit, I’ll reach out with your final price, submission instructions, a timeline, and a payment link

  4. I’ll then craft a thorough, detailed review of your copy in a separate color so you can take what lands and leave what doesn’t

  5. You’ll receive your feedback within the confirmed timeline

This isn’t just about improving one piece; it’s about strengthening your skills and trusting your voice.

CLIENT EXPERIENCES

"All writers know that 90% of writing is editing. And for your writing or copy to become better, you must seek out editors whose ruthless devotion either matches or surpasses yours. As someone who both identifies and is known as a ruthless editor, the only person I’ve found whose precision surpasses my own is Kara. She brings a lethal combination of technical writing prowess and an attunement to the richness of what wants to be expressed through you. Hire her not to be coddled, but to become a master of your craft.."

— Pilar Lesko | CEO @ Pilar Lesko

"As an interior designer, my brain is pretty much always in visual-creation mode, which doesn’t always leave a lot of room for clearly communicating or articulating our business to clients. Kara has been incredibly helpful in modifying, updating, and streamlining copy across all of our client-facing documents, as well as our website copy and PR pitches. So grateful to have her filling in those gaps and helping us elevate these areas."

— Cailey Damron | Principal Designer @ Corio Design House

MEET KARA

I’ve spent years working across industries, editing and supporting both sales-driven and creative copy. That range has trained my eye not just for what sounds good on the page, but for what actually lands with a real reader.

I have my own writing practice, so I understand what it feels like to put your heart on the page and invite others into it. That’s why I care deeply about the reader’s experience, not just technical correctness or surface-level fixes.

Good writing isn’t just clean. It’s clear, cohesive, and felt in the body.
